The People section has photos of members so that you can browse profiles and playlists and connect to those you want to befriend or share music ideas with. Lyrics.com is building up its own music social networking site but overall it had less inventive ways for individuals to find likeminded friends.
It has a dated feel about it. You can find songs and stream them (usually through YouTube) as well as share them amongst friends, but there are no handy Facebook or MySpace share buttons and you can only share via email. Another failure is the lack of a more modern recommendations tool.

The search engine was unable to cope with less popular searches but did the biz with popular choices, both old and new although across different genres. Not as extensive as other sites and certainly less cutting edge.

Membership is free and allows you to enjoy the music community within the site. Â The music, however, can be streamed in full without membership and as the social features are quite limited this free membership is not really such a great feature.
How interactive is this site? Is there a Facebook Group? Twitter? RSS feeds? Linked In? Forum? We found out.
Rival sites have snazzy tools to discover those with the same tastes or offer places for music fans to hang out and find friends/share music.Â On Lyrics.com you are left to trawl through the profiles of others to find out their musical tastes. There is a filter system but it seems more focused around finding potential partners than fellow music fans and is clearly missing a filter category on genre.
Finding the best people to connect with and discovering new music through the community is too rudimentary and longwinded on this site.
